Narrative:
While in level flight at 10000' MSL between st louis and rolla, mo, part of the #2 engine cowling came open. We know that it came open in flight because while level at 10000' in smooth air the aircraft suddenly lifted up and yawed to the left. Once we found the problem, we slowed the aircraft and did a descending right turn and went back to stl and landed. During preflight of the aircraft, all access doors, cargo doors, gear doors and engine cowlings were latched, shut and looked normal.
