Narrative:
We were flying VFR from flagstaff, az, to pao. Just as we began our descent from 12500' on a course of 280 degrees, in the vicinity of san luis reservoir, we were startled by an air carrier medium large transport overtaking us about 150 yds off our starboard wing. The medium large transport was also descending and banked left in front of us. We stopped our descent to avoid possible wake turbulence. He then proceeded to the hollister area. By monitoring bay approach we were able to identify him as an air carrier flight (the schedule published in the oag confirms this). Although he evidently saw us and correctly overtook us on the right, we feel that he came dangerously and recklessly close. His maneuver across our flight path gave the impression that he was 'showing us up.' we were squawking 1200 at the time. As we had earlier requested and received a transponder check while overflying the las TCA, we believe that our transponder was operating correctly. It is not known whether or not ATC pointed us out. Our IAS was approximately 160 KTS. Strobes and beacon were on.

Title: CLOSE PROX ACR-MLG GA-SMA NEAR AIRWAY NORTH OF PXN.
Narrative: WE WERE FLYING VFR FROM FLAGSTAFF, AZ, TO PAO. JUST AS WE BEGAN OUR DSNT FROM 12500' ON A COURSE OF 280 DEGS, IN THE VICINITY OF SAN LUIS RESERVOIR, WE WERE STARTLED BY AN ACR MLG OVERTAKING US ABOUT 150 YDS OFF OUR STARBOARD WING. THE MLG WAS ALSO DSNDING AND BANKED LEFT IN FRONT OF US. WE STOPPED OUR DSNT TO AVOID POSSIBLE WAKE TURB. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO THE HOLLISTER AREA. BY MONITORING BAY APCH WE WERE ABLE TO IDENT HIM AS AN ACR FLT (THE SCHEDULE PUBLISHED IN THE OAG CONFIRMS THIS). ALTHOUGH HE EVIDENTLY SAW US AND CORRECTLY OVERTOOK US ON THE RIGHT, WE FEEL THAT HE CAME DANGEROUSLY AND RECKLESSLY CLOSE. HIS MANEUVER ACROSS OUR FLT PATH GAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE WAS 'SHOWING US UP.' WE WERE SQUAWKING 1200 AT THE TIME. AS WE HAD EARLIER REQUESTED AND RECEIVED A XPONDER CHK WHILE OVERFLYING THE LAS TCA, WE BELIEVE THAT OUR XPONDER WAS OPERATING CORRECTLY. IT IS NOT KNOWN WHETHER OR NOT ATC POINTED US OUT. OUR IAS WAS APPROX 160 KTS. STROBES AND BEACON WERE ON.
