Narrative:
In preparation for a daily cargo flight, I contacted oakland FSS and listened to the recorded WX. I then attempted to contact a briefer to obtain pertinent NOTAMS. While on hold, I was disconnected and did not reattempt the call. As I was getting close to santa rosa, I called out my intentions on the CTAF like I do every day. I received no response, but that was not unusual. Upon landing, a man came up to my helicopter and informed me that the airport was closed. He stated that there was a NOTAM posted on the closure. It is not unusual to wait 5-7 mins for a briefer on the phone, and I did not have access to duat. I feel that NOTAMS should be put on the recorder to facilitate a more complete automated briefing. That evening after returning to base, I again contacted FSS to hear the NOTAM, and the briefer told me that sonoma skypark (0q9) was the airport that was closed, even though he gave me the right identifier for santa rosa air center.
