Narrative:
Was training in preparation for a part 135 check ride in company aircraft. I was under the hood. Instructor was in the right seat. Tower had cleared us for option. Then tower cleared us to land. A few mins later, the instructor told me to do a missed approach. I said that that was impossible because we had been cleared to land. He said that we could do the option. We had a slight argument. Finally we did a missed approach. Immediately tower instructed us to turn to 360 which we did. Upon ending our practice session, tower told us to call, which we did. They felt there had been ambiguity on their side and wrong action on ours. But they did not ask us for our names. I feel that I was wrong in not doing what I felt was right which was to land as instructed. I gave in to the instructor because he seemed so positive that he was right - that we could do the go around. Also we could have asked for clarification from the tower when it was obvious that each of us had interpreted the clearance differently.
