Narrative:

Having spent 2 weeks getting a V-6 engine installed in my small aircraft aircraft, getting in a hurry to return from augusta, ks, to laredo, tx, I inadvertently left the logbooks at the friendly FBO in augusta, ks. The man who supervised and did installation of engine, mailed them the same day to my office in laredo, tx. The type certificate was in the logbook, and consequently was not in the aircraft when I had an overheating problem and made a precautionary landing at sanger. FAA was notified. I am usually in the habit of keeping up with the paperwork but this 1 time I messed up. I will, in the future, endeavor to be more observant of the registration and airworthiness certificates. The registration (original) is in the aircraft and the airworthiness certificate will be.
