Narrative:
Aircraft was preflted. Crew went inside and gave a ramp time. Aircraft was ramped. Crew inspected fuel caps, nose gear pin and I completed a quick walk around which included looking at each inlet for foreign objects. Passenger arrived. Crew started right hand engine first. Shut down engine due to abrupt noise. Secured aircraft. Found linemen's hand held radio laying on ramp in pieces. Engine showed evidence of radio parts through entire engine. Lineman admitted to laying radio in engine inlet, so he would not scratch paint.
