Narrative:
Large transport X nwbound at FL330 wafdof to ZID. Small transport Y northbound at FL330 under large transport X. ZID attempted to pointout an small transport Z nebound at FL330. I took small transport Z in radar contact to make sure I avoided small transport Y. Large transport X was switched to ZID crw high. Crw high was working (talking) to small transport Z at FL330 and I wanted to make sure ZID had both aircraft. Crw high transferred communications to me on small transport Y then crw high. Later called and said they were not talking to large transport X and I could turn and descend small transport Y in their airspace. Small transport Y target was swapping with an aircraft below him at FL280 and I could not determine an appropriate turn. I descended small transport Y to FL310 in a min or less. Small transport Y reported level FL310 16 seconds after separation was lost.

Title: TOO MANY ACFT AT THE SAME ALT AND 1 WAS WRONG ALT FOR DIRECTION OF FLT. POOR COORD AND ACFT ON SEPARATE ATC FREQS CAUSED A SYS ERROR.
Narrative: LGT X NWBOUND AT FL330 WAFDOF TO ZID. SMT Y NBOUND AT FL330 UNDER LGT X. ZID ATTEMPTED TO POINTOUT AN SMT Z NEBOUND AT FL330. I TOOK SMT Z IN RADAR CONTACT TO MAKE SURE I AVOIDED SMT Y. LGT X WAS SWITCHED TO ZID CRW HIGH. CRW HIGH WAS WORKING (TALKING) TO SMT Z AT FL330 AND I WANTED TO MAKE SURE ZID HAD BOTH ACFT. CRW HIGH TRANSFERRED COMS TO ME ON SMT Y THEN CRW HIGH. LATER CALLED AND SAID THEY WERE NOT TALKING TO LGT X AND I COULD TURN AND DSND SMT Y IN THEIR AIRSPACE. SMT Y TARGET WAS SWAPPING WITH AN ACFT BELOW HIM AT FL280 AND I COULD NOT DETERMINE AN APPROPRIATE TURN. I DSNDED SMT Y TO FL310 IN A MIN OR LESS. SMT Y RPTED LEVEL FL310 16 SECONDS AFTER SEPARATION WAS LOST.
