Narrative:
During cruise at FL240 inbound to buj VOR received a TCAS TA at 1 O'clock, 4 mi, then shortly afterwards received an RA to descend at 1200 FPM for about 600 ft then a level off followed by a TCAS all clear. Returned to FL240. Advised ATC of descent as it was initiated. They had only an MTR that passed over our position at FL370. No visual contact was made throughout encounter. The validity of the RA could not be verified.
