Narrative:
The flight started at mkc monday morning jul/91. At about XA20 local. I departed on an IFR flight plan with intended stops at ict, hut, and ddc. After a brief stop at ict. I continued to hut and arrived there at XA00. Freight was exchanged, my IFR clearance was issued, and hut tower cleared me for takeoff. As I started my takeoff roll I did a very stupid thing. I reached over to unlock the gear handle, but instead of just unlocking it, I selected 'gear up' also. As I raised the nose gear at about 70-80 msp the right gear started to retract. I immediately noticed what I had done and selected 'gear down'. Too late. The aircraft dropped onto the runway (35) and by the time I had pulled the power and mixtures and shut the fuel valves, the airplane had slid off the runway (right side) and stopped.

Title: TKOF ROLL INADVERTENTLY PUT GEAR CTL IN THE UP POS.
Narrative: THE FLT STARTED AT MKC MONDAY MORNING JUL/91. AT ABOUT XA20 LCL. I DEPARTED ON AN IFR FLT PLAN WITH INTENDED STOPS AT ICT, HUT, AND DDC. AFTER A BRIEF STOP AT ICT. I CONTINUED TO HUT AND ARRIVED THERE AT XA00. FREIGHT WAS EXCHANGED, MY IFR CLRNC WAS ISSUED, AND HUT TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF. AS I STARTED MY TKOF ROLL I DID A VERY STUPID THING. I REACHED OVER TO UNLOCK THE GEAR HANDLE, BUT INSTEAD OF JUST UNLOCKING IT, I SELECTED 'GEAR UP' ALSO. AS I RAISED THE NOSE GEAR AT ABOUT 70-80 MSP THE R GEAR STARTED TO RETRACT. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED WHAT I HAD DONE AND SELECTED 'GEAR DOWN'. TOO LATE. THE ACFT DROPPED ONTO THE RWY (35) AND BY THE TIME I HAD PULLED THE PWR AND MIXTURES AND SHUT THE FUEL VALVES, THE AIRPLANE HAD SLID OFF THE RWY (R SIDE) AND STOPPED.
