Narrative:

During cruise at FL370, #2 oil temperature increased to between 120 and 157 degree C. 'Oil temperature high' abnormal checklist procedures were followed for timing purposes. During time interval required, oil temperature gauges were swapped to confirm actual temperature readings. A lower altitude was selected and throttle movements showed some decrease in temperature but not sufficient enough decrease. Engine #2 was shut down as per engine failure checklist for in-flight engine failure. ATC and company (through ATC) operations were notified of engine shutdown. Fuel and persons on board were given to ATC and a request for emergency equipment to be standing by at runway of landing was relayed to ord tower. Appropriate procedures were followed for landing with 1 engine inoperative along with necessary procedures for continued flight and landing with 2 generators inoperative (as #1 CSD had previously been disconnected earlier in flight). Landing and taxi in were normal and emergency equipment was released. Appropriate notations were made in logbook for engine windmilling, oil pressure, etc after landing.

Title: ACR LGT INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN DUE TO HIGH OIL TEMP.

Narrative: DURING CRUISE AT FL370, #2 OIL TEMP INCREASED TO BTWN 120 AND 157 DEG C. 'OIL TEMP HIGH' ABNORMAL CHKLIST PROCS WERE FOLLOWED FOR TIMING PURPOSES. DURING TIME INTERVAL REQUIRED, OIL TEMP GAUGES WERE SWAPPED TO CONFIRM ACTUAL TEMP READINGS. A LOWER ALT WAS SELECTED AND THROTTLE MOVEMENTS SHOWED SOME DECREASE IN TEMP BUT NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH DECREASE. ENG #2 WAS SHUT DOWN AS PER ENG FAILURE CHKLIST FOR INFLT ENG FAILURE. ATC AND COMPANY (THROUGH ATC) OPS WERE NOTIFIED OF ENG SHUTDOWN. FUEL AND PERSONS ON BOARD WERE GIVEN TO ATC AND A REQUEST FOR EMER EQUIP TO BE STANDING BY AT RWY OF LNDG WAS RELAYED TO ORD TWR. APPROPRIATE PROCS WERE FOLLOWED FOR LNDG WITH 1 ENG INOP ALONG WITH NECESSARY PROCS FOR CONTINUED FLT AND LNDG WITH 2 GENERATORS INOP (AS #1 CSD HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN DISCONNECTED EARLIER IN FLT). LNDG AND TAXI IN WERE NORMAL AND EMER EQUIP WAS RELEASED. APPROPRIATE NOTATIONS WERE MADE IN LOGBOOK FOR ENG WINDMILLING, OIL PRESSURE, ETC AFTER LNDG.
