Narrative:
Cleared to land runway 04L from left downwind and cautioned about an medium large transport landing on parallel (04R). Set up approach to 04L with compensation for a right crosswind. At about 500 ft AGL, I looked inside the cockpit to verify extension of full flaps and completion of the landing checklist. When I looked back outside I failed to notice that I had drifted to the right and was lining up for runway 04R. This incident was caused by my lack of vigilance and my failure to notice and compensate for a significant diminishment of the right crosswind at about 500 ft AGL. Recurrence of similar incidents may be reduced by greater emphasis of this particular hazard during pilot training.

Title: PLT OF SMT TWIN CLRED APCH AND LAND 4L AT HNL DRIFTED INTO ALIGNMENT WITH 4R CAUSING MG TO GAR.
Narrative: CLRED TO LAND RWY 04L FROM L DOWNWIND AND CAUTIONED ABOUT AN MLG LNDG ON PARALLEL (04R). SET UP APCH TO 04L WITH COMPENSATION FOR A R XWIND. AT ABOUT 500 FT AGL, I LOOKED INSIDE THE COCKPIT TO VERIFY EXTENSION OF FULL FLAPS AND COMPLETION OF THE LNDG CHKLIST. WHEN I LOOKED BACK OUTSIDE I FAILED TO NOTICE THAT I HAD DRIFTED TO THE R AND WAS LINING UP FOR RWY 04R. THIS INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MY LACK OF VIGILANCE AND MY FAILURE TO NOTICE AND COMPENSATE FOR A SIGNIFICANT DIMINISHMENT OF THE R XWIND AT ABOUT 500 FT AGL. RECURRENCE OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS MAY BE REDUCED BY GREATER EMPHASIS OF THIS PARTICULAR HAZARD DURING PLT TRNING.
