Narrative:

Daylight 2 mi visibility at lax cleared for ILS approach to runway 25L at lax. Copilot flying approach manually both navigation set tuned and idented. At approximately 10 mi on final approach TCAS issued a TA alert warning both pilot and copilot diverted their attention (scan) to TCAS screen and at approximately 7 mi the tower inquired what runway we were going to land on. Both pilots returned attention to flight instruments to observe that the aircraft had drifted right of flight path. Aircraft was immediately returned to localizer final path. No conflict was observed and landing was completed without further problems. Comment, both pilots cannot be diverted from primary flight phase. Captain should be sure that the aircraft flight path is being monitored even during TCAS alerts.
