Narrative:

During climb out, had engine problem and wanted to return. We had just been handed off from departure to cle center and actually were working and evaluating the problem at the time of handoff, when we said we wanted to return. It took considerable time to coordinate a handoff back to departure (or now approach control). In the meantime, we are going away from the airport with an engine problem. Further, when on approach control, we were bothered with questions while we were very busy (questions from approach control and again from ground control). A better or quicker handoff procedure would have helped and also not having controllers asking questions of us that they could get from the company.
