Narrative:
Although I made the required 'flight attendant's prepare for takeoff' PA it was not heard by the flight attendants. En route the required PA to use seat belts anytime seated was also not heard by passenger, as the PA system was inoperative without my knowledge. There is no requirement for the flight attendants to inform the captain when required PA's are not heard.

Narrative: ALTHOUGH I MADE THE REQUIRED 'FLT ATTENDANT'S PREPARE FOR TKOF' PA IT WAS NOT HEARD BY THE FLT ATTENDANTS. ENRTE THE REQUIRED PA TO USE SEAT BELTS ANYTIME SEATED WAS ALSO NOT HEARD BY PAX, AS THE PA SYS WAS INOP WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT FOR THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO INFORM THE CAPT WHEN REQUIRED PA'S ARE NOT HEARD.
