Main pitch trim system inoperative on takeoff on both sides. Main pitch trim system inoperative prior to 160 KTS on takeoff. Referred to aircraft operating manual procedures. Could not fully restore system. Used backup system remainder of flight. Contacted maintenance operating controller and system operations controller. Was advised to return to dfw. Burned fuel to avoid overweight landing. Declared emergency. Briefed flight attendant and passenger. Met maintenance at gate.
