Narrative:
During a macey 1 arrival into atl, either we missed a frequency change call or center failed to pass us to the next sector. Although all 3 flight crew members were eating I am reluctant to believe we all missed the repeated calls ATC states they made to us directly and through other aircraft. I believe we were on different frequencys. But, through inattn or subconscious reliance on a call from center to start descent, we continued on at FL350. We were nearly to atl when we recognized the problem. After a rush to reestablish communication I made contact with ATC center and reported overhead atl at 35000 ft and requested descent. The response was to 'stand by'. While awaiting further instructions and being given a frequency change, we proceeded south of atl before being vectored back toward foothills for resequencing.

Title: ACR LGT ENRTE TO ATL MISSED A FREQ CHANGE AND DISCOVERED THE ERROR OVER THE ATL VOR AT FL350.
Narrative: DURING A MACEY 1 ARR INTO ATL, EITHER WE MISSED A FREQ CHANGE CALL OR CENTER FAILED TO PASS US TO THE NEXT SECTOR. ALTHOUGH ALL 3 FLC MEMBERS WERE EATING I AM RELUCTANT TO BELIEVE WE ALL MISSED THE REPEATED CALLS ATC STATES THEY MADE TO US DIRECTLY AND THROUGH OTHER ACFT. I BELIEVE WE WERE ON DIFFERENT FREQS. BUT, THROUGH INATTN OR SUBCONSCIOUS RELIANCE ON A CALL FROM CENTER TO START DSCNT, WE CONTINUED ON AT FL350. WE WERE NEARLY TO ATL WHEN WE RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM. AFTER A RUSH TO REESTABLISH COM I MADE CONTACT WITH ATC CENTER AND RPTED OVERHEAD ATL AT 35000 FT AND REQUESTED DSCNT. THE RESPONSE WAS TO 'STAND BY'. WHILE AWAITING FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS AND BEING GIVEN A FREQ CHANGE, WE PROCEEDED S OF ATL BEFORE BEING VECTORED BACK TOWARD FOOTHILLS FOR RESEQUENCING.
