Narrative:
Small transport X departed runway 2R at pdk on runway heading, climbing to 3000. Small aircraft Y at 3000 ft 7 northeast of pdk being vectored for an ILS approach to runway 20L at pdk. Due to workload and equipment limitations in addition to working combined position (the controller was off the air doing coordination), the aircraft lost separation 5 northeast of pdk. The conflict alert warning alerted the controller to the situation and small transport X was given an immediate left turn to 270 degree and small aircraft Y was issued traffic which they had in sight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMT X HAD LTSS FROM SMA Y. SYS ERROR.
Narrative: SMT X DEPARTED RWY 2R AT PDK ON RWY HDG, CLBING TO 3000. SMA Y AT 3000 FT 7 NE OF PDK BEING VECTORED FOR AN ILS APCH TO RWY 20L AT PDK. DUE TO WORKLOAD AND EQUIP LIMITATIONS IN ADDITION TO WORKING COMBINED POS (THE CTLR WAS OFF THE AIR DOING COORD), THE ACFT LOST SEPARATION 5 NE OF PDK. THE CONFLICT ALERT WARNING ALERTED THE CTLR TO THE SITUATION AND SMT X WAS GIVEN AN IMMEDIATE L TURN TO 270 DEG AND SMA Y WAS ISSUED TFC WHICH THEY HAD IN SIGHT.
