Narrative:
On the descent into waco, a passenger passed up a note that stated screws were missing from a chin cowling on the left engine. Upon completion of the flight, I examined the engine and found 14 screws missing from said cowling. I wrote the problem up in the aircraft logbook and promptly grounded the plane. Maintenance arrived 3 hours later and replaced missing screws. The problem could have been avoided if the first officer had done a proper and thorough preflight.
