Narrative:

We were operating under a special VFR clearance sharing the control zone with an small transport B with visual separation concurrence. Reported WX conditions were 700 scattered with 2 mi visibility. The small transport B was doing practice instrument approachs and was inside the final fix as we made right traffic to the runway (right traffic is specified). While on base we lost sight of the other aircraft and turned left to abandon the pattern. This placed us in the path of the other aircraft. We regained visual contact at less than 1/2 mi and turned away. The small transport B continued, landed and cleared. We reentered the pattern and landed normally.
