Narrative:
Landed dfw on 38L. After clearing runway on parallel taxiway, tower advised that all crossing taxiways (plus 36R) were closed except taxiway 18. Most or all of taxiway lights were out. Construction workers with BRITE flood lights were between parallel taxiway and 35R plus between taxiway 18 and 19. I could not see any taxiway identify to orient myself to know taxiway I had to use to get to #18. The bright lights made picking up taxiway markings harder to find. The taxiway endlights (north end of parallel taxiway and north side of taxiway 18) were out. I did not know I was approaching the end. I broke hard, skidded to a stop just short of the end of the taxiway. I pwred back 25-30 ft, then taxied to the gate. No taxi lights, bright flood lights and no warning from tower/ground almost caused me to taxi off the taxiway.
