Narrative:
Flight path as cleared led through thunderstorm line over approximately middle of lake. Ord was holding aircraft toward south end leaving a north diversion only route. Ord center started sending aircraft north. Flight entered ice crystals causing radio static. After some vectoring ending with 270 degree, ord asked if we could go direct mke. Since he was so busy we decided to try and deadreckon to mke using bae, hrk and 25L localizer at mke, and not argue that mke was not a legal fix for us to navigation to. In the 20 seconds it took us to receive hrk and 25L localizer were OTS, and that bae was bearing approximately 240 (35 DME, ie, we were north of mke by approximately 40 mi). He asked us if we were going direct, then he said something like 'you gave me bad information, climb immediately to 11000 you have traffic at 10 O'clock.' rest of flight was relatively uneventful except for the turbulence lighting and radio static continuing. Conclusion. No more mr. Nice guy.
