Narrative:
Flight crew bna-dfw oct/fri/91. At 4000 ft MSL on 17L centerline, was 'cleared for approach.' later, 'maintain 4000 until further advised.' this was due to medium large transport X that was doing an approach to 18 (left or right) and had drifted from our 1 O'clock position at 3000 ft MSL (1000 ft below us), to underneath us, to 7 O'clock position. While observing him on TCASII and visually, additional traffic, an medium large transport Y, appears at 12 O'clock level at 5 mi and closing. TCASII TA. We made a 150 degree bank turn to right received a TCASII alert 'descend.' descended 300 ft to 3700 ft even though assigned 4000. TCASII 'monitor vertical speed.' medium large transport Y was maintaining visual on us but did not know this until talking with dfw TRACON 50 mins later. Finally we were cleared by tower to land, 'if you can make it from there.' TRACON said no conflict due to our actions. Will use event to improve procedures.

Title: CLOSE PROX BTWN ACR LGT THE RPTR AND 2 OTHER ACR MLG ACFT ALL MAKING SIMULTANEOUS VISUAL APCHS TO PARALLEL RWYS AT DFW.
Narrative: FLC BNA-DFW OCT/FRI/91. AT 4000 FT MSL ON 17L CENTERLINE, WAS 'CLRED FOR APCH.' LATER, 'MAINTAIN 4000 UNTIL FURTHER ADVISED.' THIS WAS DUE TO MLG X THAT WAS DOING AN APCH TO 18 (L OR R) AND HAD DRIFTED FROM OUR 1 O'CLOCK POS AT 3000 FT MSL (1000 FT BELOW US), TO UNDERNEATH US, TO 7 O'CLOCK POS. WHILE OBSERVING HIM ON TCASII AND VISUALLY, ADDITIONAL TFC, AN MLG Y, APPEARS AT 12 O'CLOCK LEVEL AT 5 MI AND CLOSING. TCASII TA. WE MADE A 150 DEG BANK TURN TO R RECEIVED A TCASII ALERT 'DSND.' DSNDED 300 FT TO 3700 FT EVEN THOUGH ASSIGNED 4000. TCASII 'MONITOR VERT SPD.' MLG Y WAS MAINTAINING VISUAL ON US BUT DID NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL TALKING WITH DFW TRACON 50 MINS LATER. FINALLY WE WERE CLRED BY TWR TO LAND, 'IF YOU CAN MAKE IT FROM THERE.' TRACON SAID NO CONFLICT DUE TO OUR ACTIONS. WILL USE EVENT TO IMPROVE PROCS.
