Narrative:
Approach control told us to descend and expect runway 25 at jax. On further vectors, and another controller we were told to expect runway 31 (wind calm). As per company policy we set all our navaids up for 31. At the time no other aircraft were in the area or air traffic area. We were vectored toward the airport and what looked like a straight in for 31. We reported field in sight (around 12 mi) and were given a visual and over to the tower. At this point I guess we heard what we expected not what they said. The local controller said he gave us 'cleared to land 25 -- not 3. After we cleared the runway (31) they informed us we were cleared 25 not 31! I called the tower once we were parked, and they said they were going to forget it since there wasn't a conflict (no traffic at all in the air/or ground). They also said that if there was a conflict they would have given us a 'wave off', so I guess they watched us get ourselves up and land on the wrong runway!
