Narrative:

Holding short runway 4 on taxiway C with operations on runway 4, 30R, 35. Ground control cleared us to cross runway 4 along with 2 aircraft behind us. An airliner appeared to be on final about 10 mi out. As we were crossing runway 4 ground control supervisor came on (call sign blocked) 'aircraft 1 1/2 mi final.' as we exited runway 4 after crossing, light transport initiated go around. Without being able to hear tower controller (holding short with ground control), small aircraft close in looked like large aircraft far away. Ground control clearing 3 aircraft to cross runway simultaneously subconsciously supported this illusion.

WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO HEAR TWR CTLR (HOLDING SHORT WITH GND CTL), SMALL ACFT CLOSE IN LOOKED LIKE LARGE ACFT FAR AWAY. GND CTL CLRING 3 ACFT TO CROSS RWY SIMULTANEOUSLY SUBCONSCIOUSLY SUPPORTED THIS ILLUSION.
