Narrative:
On climb out of lga the instructions were followed to turn from 175 degree heading to 040 degree heading as soon as 2.5 DME was reached. Since we were fairly heavy the flap retraction schedule delayed our bank beyond company procedure 15 degrees. Once flaps were retracted the captain chose a conservative 20 degree bank due to weight. There was a complaint from nyc departure control that we impeded jfk airspace by 2 mi followed by another vector around other traffic. Vzf as per our manual was flown. All that could have been changed was bank angle up to 30 degrees. Even then, a 2 mi correction wouldn't have been achieved. I recommend reviewing the climb procedure, particularly for heavy aircraft.
