Narrative:
We made a visual approach to runway 16 at pwk at XA10 am at night. Conditions were VFR. 'Approximately' 1500 ft ceiling and 7 mi visibility. We backed up our visual approach by flying the ILS and VASI to the runway. At approximately the 2 mi final point the other crew member asked if I saw the vehicle with the flashing lights, I said 'yes, I have him, he is clear of the runway.' we proceeded to land. After feeling the wheels touch the runway I started bringing the airplane to a normal stop. At that point the other crew member said 'there is an airplane on the runway.' I immediately went to maximum braking and maximum reverse thrust and brought the airplane to a stop approximately 100-150 ft from a disabled aircraft on runway 16. The flashing lights turned out to be a fire truck parked clear of runway 16 on runway 12L. My crew member had made reports on the CTAF frequency several times prior to our landing, announcing our position and intentions and no one responded. The disabled aircraft was not lit in any way and was first spotted by us when seen on the landing roll with our landing lights. The other crew member immediately called chicago (on the radio) approach and advised them of the situation. I taxied the airplane to parking and additional calls were made by telephone from there to advise ATC and authorities. I feel better emergency procedures could have been followed by the fire department that was at the scene, to warn us of the disabled aircraft.

Title: LTT HAS NEAR COLLISION WITH SMT DISABLED ON RWY, NO LIGHTS.
Narrative: WE MADE A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 16 AT PWK AT XA10 AM AT NIGHT. CONDITIONS WERE VFR. 'APPROX' 1500 FT CEILING AND 7 MI VISIBILITY. WE BACKED UP OUR VISUAL APCH BY FLYING THE ILS AND VASI TO THE RWY. AT APPROX THE 2 MI FINAL POINT THE OTHER CREW MEMBER ASKED IF I SAW THE VEHICLE WITH THE FLASHING LIGHTS, I SAID 'YES, I HAVE HIM, HE IS CLR OF THE RWY.' WE PROCEEDED TO LAND. AFTER FEELING THE WHEELS TOUCH THE RWY I STARTED BRINGING THE AIRPLANE TO A NORMAL STOP. AT THAT POINT THE OTHER CREW MEMBER SAID 'THERE IS AN AIRPLANE ON THE RWY.' I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MAX BRAKING AND MAX REVERSE THRUST AND BROUGHT THE AIRPLANE TO A STOP APPROX 100-150 FT FROM A DISABLED ACFT ON RWY 16. THE FLASHING LIGHTS TURNED OUT TO BE A FIRE TRUCK PARKED CLR OF RWY 16 ON RWY 12L. MY CREW MEMBER HAD MADE RPTS ON THE CTAF FREQ SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO OUR LNDG, ANNOUNCING OUR POS AND INTENTIONS AND NO ONE RESPONDED. THE DISABLED ACFT WAS NOT LIT IN ANY WAY AND WAS FIRST SPOTTED BY US WHEN SEEN ON THE LNDG ROLL WITH OUR LNDG LIGHTS. THE OTHER CREW MEMBER IMMEDIATELY CALLED CHICAGO (ON THE RADIO) APCH AND ADVISED THEM OF THE SITUATION. I TAXIED THE AIRPLANE TO PARKING AND ADDITIONAL CALLS WERE MADE BY TELEPHONE FROM THERE TO ADVISE ATC AND AUTHORITIES. I FEEL BETTER EMER PROCS COULD HAVE BEEN FOLLOWED BY THE FIRE DEPT THAT WAS AT THE SCENE, TO WARN US OF THE DISABLED ACFT.
