Narrative:

We were cleared into position and hold 4L at logan as we rolled onto the runway we just finished the before takeoff check. This led us to forget the final items (runway checks). We did not turn on the transponder. After takeoff the tower handed us to approach. We did the climb check and forgot to go to approach. By the time we realized our mistake we were well west of boston at 3000 ft with no transponder. The visibility was excellent and nothing became of it other than upsetting the departure controller and understandably so. I believe this could have been avoided by: more strict adherence to checklists. Taking care of checking in with departure control before executing the climb check and having the tower call us for not having checked in with departure.

Title: FLC OF COMMUTER TOOK OFF WITHOUT TRANSPONDER OPERATING. FORGOT TO CHANGE TO DEP CTLR. SKIPPED AFTER TKOF CHKLIST.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD 4L AT LOGAN AS WE ROLLED ONTO THE RWY WE JUST FINISHED THE BEFORE TKOF CHK. THIS LED US TO FORGET THE FINAL ITEMS (RWY CHKS). WE DID NOT TURN ON THE TRANSPONDER. AFTER TKOF THE TWR HANDED US TO APCH. WE DID THE CLB CHK AND FORGOT TO GO TO APCH. BY THE TIME WE REALIZED OUR MISTAKE WE WERE WELL W OF BOSTON AT 3000 FT WITH NO TRANSPONDER. THE VISIBILITY WAS EXCELLENT AND NOTHING BECAME OF IT OTHER THAN UPSETTING THE DEP CTLR AND UNDERSTANDABLY SO. I BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY: MORE STRICT ADHERENCE TO CHKLISTS. TAKING CARE OF CHKING IN WITH DEP CTL BEFORE EXECUTING THE CLB CHK AND HAVING THE TWR CALL US FOR NOT HAVING CHKED IN WITH DEP.
