Narrative:
I was unsure of my exact location when contacting lakeland airport. The tower advised me to contact a frequency I believe to be controled by tampa. Tampa gave me a squawk code and told me my position from lakeland airport. After leaving lakeland airspace in direct route to melbourne I realized I still had the squawk code tampa had given me in my transponder. I then accidently squawked 7700 instead of 1700 for VFR flight. I was not aware of this until I contacted melbourne tower. I am a student pilot.
