Narrative:
On climb out from las, smelled smoke in cockpit at around 15000 ft MSL. About 1 min later, equipment overheat light illuminated. Selected alternate. Smell of smoke dissipated rather quickly. Decided to return to las as a precautionary measure. No one injured. (Found forward equipment cooling fan to have burned up).

Narrative: ON CLB OUT FROM LAS, SMELLED SMOKE IN COCKPIT AT AROUND 15000 FT MSL. ABOUT 1 MIN LATER, EQUIP OVERHEAT LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SELECTED ALTERNATE. SMELL OF SMOKE DISSIPATED RATHER QUICKLY.
