Narrative:
While flying on the VFR portion of a VFR/IFR composite flight plan, I was informed by the controller that VFR on top is prohibited in canada. While I'm responsible for that knowledge, the absence of international training from my company/employer contributed to my error.

Title: WHILE FLYING VFR ON TOP, PLT IS ADVISED BY CANADIAN CTLR THAT VFR ON TOP IS NOT AUTHORIZED IN CANADA.
Narrative: WHILE FLYING ON THE VFR PORTION OF A VFR/IFR COMPOSITE FLT PLAN, I WAS INFORMED BY THE CTLR THAT VFR ON TOP IS PROHIBITED IN CANADA. WHILE I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT KNOWLEDGE, THE ABSENCE OF INTL TRAINING FROM MY COMPANY/EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTED TO MY ERROR.
