Narrative:

Cruising at 4000 ft, traffic was pointed out to us at 10 O'clock at 4500. 1 min later, our 'TCASII' equipment gave us a 'RA' ordering us to descend 1500-2000 ft. We leveled at 3500 and told the controller we had a TCASII altitude deviation. He said no problem, and we climbed back up to 4000 ft. We asked him if there was paperwork he needed to fill out, he said no. Personally I thought there was some type of paperwork they (ATC) needed to fill out.
