Narrative:
After aircraft had landed and was unloaded, flight attendant found a wire off the emergency chute that was not connected to the girt bar. Captain/first officer and station agents spent about 20 mins trying to get this hooked back up. Unable to do so. Captain called me, dispatcher, and I got him hooked up with maintenance technician. After the captain told us what was wrong, maintenance technician tried to tell him how to fix it but then told him to write it up in the logbook and to have station agent call out the fix base maintenance person. This would take about an hour. About 10 mins later the captain called me back and told me that the first officer and an agent had fixed the door. I told him, great let's load up the people and go. I did not know that the captain or the first officer could not do the work. After I got off the telephone I called maintenance technician and he said ok let it go. He did not tell me it was against far for the captain to do it until flight was gone or I would have stopped aircraft until maintenance got there. Corrective action: just have captain write it up in log and wait for maintenance to fix it, no matter how long passenger have to wait. I know better next time. Better safe than sorry.
