Narrative:
We were inbound to buj on 320 radial at 9000 MSL cleared to follow buj #3 arrival ie, 230 radial outbound. At 250 KIAS (300 ktas) we calculated a turn radius of 4.5 NM and commenced a right turn at 5 DME to intercept the 230 radial. Ft worth center queried whether we were turning and when told we were, informed us that we should have proceeded over buj then turned. He said we cut off other traffic at 10000 MSL and then he told us to execute a left 360 turn but without telling us whether to reintercept the arrival or continue heading 140. We were adhering to the requirements of far 91.181 by turning early in order to arrive on centerline outbound for which the controller criticized us on the radio then gave us an incomplete clearance.

Title: ANTICIPATING A 170 DEG TURN TO PICK UP OUTBOUND RADIAL OF 150 OFF BUJ FLC OF LGT STARTED TURN 5 MI BEFORE BUJ TO END UP ON 150 RADIAL. CTLR OBJECTED AND GAVE A L 360 TURN BUT NO CLUE AS TO HOW TO PROCEED AFTER THAT.
Narrative: WE WERE INBOUND TO BUJ ON 320 RADIAL AT 9000 MSL CLRED TO FOLLOW BUJ #3 ARR IE, 230 RADIAL OUTBOUND. AT 250 KIAS (300 KTAS) WE CALCULATED A TURN RADIUS OF 4.5 NM AND COMMENCED A R TURN AT 5 DME TO INTERCEPT THE 230 RADIAL. FT WORTH CENTER QUERIED WHETHER WE WERE TURNING AND WHEN TOLD WE WERE, INFORMED US THAT WE SHOULD HAVE PROCEEDED OVER BUJ THEN TURNED. HE SAID WE CUT OFF OTHER TFC AT 10000 MSL AND THEN HE TOLD US TO EXECUTE A L 360 TURN BUT WITHOUT TELLING US WHETHER TO REINTERCEPT THE ARR OR CONTINUE HDG 140. WE WERE ADHERING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FAR 91.181 BY TURNING EARLY IN ORDER TO ARRIVE ON CENTERLINE OUTBOUND FOR WHICH THE CTLR CRITICIZED US ON THE RADIO THEN GAVE US AN INCOMPLETE CLRNC.
