Narrative:
I operated flight from hpn on jan/xx/92. Our ACARS showed our doors closed at XA59L. After being cleared to taxi to runway 16 we were called by ground and she advised us that our new departure time would be XB18L. I promptly shut down an engine to conserve fuel as we continued toward runway 16. I had no more than shut down the engine and she called again and revised the takeoff time to XB05L, I initiated procedures to restart and run all required checklist items as expeditiously as possible. We switched over to the tower frequency and advised that we were ready for takeoff. We were lectured by the tower controller that the ground controller had been looking for us for 5 mins and that we should request permission to go off the frequency. I find it interesting that ground had been looking for us for 5 mins when we had been talking to her for 6 mins. We pushed at XA59L and were ready for takeoff at XB05L. That 6 mins included a call to push, a call to taxi, a revised takeoff time, and revised- revised takeoff time and a lecture form tower.

Narrative: I OPERATED FLT FROM HPN ON JAN/XX/92. OUR ACARS SHOWED OUR DOORS CLOSED AT XA59L. AFTER BEING CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 16 WE WERE CALLED BY GND AND SHE ADVISED US THAT OUR NEW DEP TIME WOULD BE XB18L. I PROMPTLY SHUT DOWN AN ENG TO CONSERVE FUEL AS WE CONTINUED TOWARD RWY 16. I HAD NO MORE THAN SHUT DOWN THE ENG AND SHE CALLED AGAIN AND REVISED THE TKOF TIME TO XB05L, I INITIATED PROCS TO RESTART AND RUN ALL REQUIRED CHKLIST ITEMS AS EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE. WE SWITCHED OVER TO THE TWR FREQ AND ADVISED THAT WE WERE READY FOR TKOF. WE WERE LECTURED BY THE TWR CTLR THAT THE GND CTLR HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR US FOR 5 MINS AND THAT WE SHOULD REQUEST PERMISSION TO GO OFF THE FREQ. I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT GND HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR US FOR 5 MINS WHEN WE HAD BEEN TALKING TO HER FOR 6 MINS. WE PUSHED AT XA59L AND WERE READY FOR TKOF AT XB05L. THAT 6 MINS INCLUDED A CALL TO PUSH, A CALL TO TAXI, A REVISED TKOF TIME, AND REVISED- REVISED TKOF TIME AND A LECTURE FORM TWR.
