Narrative:
I was 1 hour late due to maintenance problems at a stop en route. My arrival time was 3 min prior to scheduled jet departure (air carrier a run). The jet was waiting for me. I was told to expect a marshaller to guide me to the cargo door for the jet. Upon reaching the cargo area, a marshaller appeared where I expected he would be and seemed to be marshalling me towards the jet. In reality, his back was to me and he was marshalling an air carrier B jet. I did not see ????, the ramp was poorly lighted, and I was expecting him. The air carrier a marshaller was actually around the corner, behind their jet. I proceeded toward the air carrier B marshaller as he backed away believing he was leading me around the jet. When he realized I was following he signaled to stop. By the time I'd stopped I was in a position to see the air carrier a marshaller. At this time, the air carrier B marshaller, some what freaked out, departed. Air carrier B upset, airport authorities notified. Simple mistake.
