Narrative:
This described event is another example how poor ATC's communication is now with pilots. As we taxied from the terminal to runway 1 on taxiway a, ground control abruptly, hastily and very unprofessionally stated 'air carrier X, you were told to hold short of intersection D.' for one thing, we were told to only taxi to runway 1, and if there were holding instructions, we did not acknowledge them. 2) we were still 300 ft from approaching 'D' taxiway. I must say the taxiways were snow covered. After politely responding to their instructions, ground told us to taxi to runway 1, realizing their error. No apologies. I bring this to your attention as ATC is appearing less and less to be the pilot's helpful friend, instead, their arrogance is growing into a larger number. Continuing, after being abused so unprofessionally, we go ahead with our departure on runway 1 and we inadvertently forget to turn on our transponder. Departure again responds with a very unprofessional remark to check our transponder on. I expect to be treated as professionally and courteously as I do so myself to them.

Title: ACR CAPT COMPLAINS OF CTLR'S ATTITUDE IN COORD PROC IN DEP ALB ARPT.
Narrative: THIS DESCRIBED EVENT IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE HOW POOR ATC'S COM IS NOW WITH PLTS. AS WE TAXIED FROM THE TERMINAL TO RWY 1 ON TAXIWAY A, GND CTL ABRUPTLY, HASTILY AND VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY STATED 'ACR X, YOU WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF INTXN D.' FOR ONE THING, WE WERE TOLD TO ONLY TAXI TO RWY 1, AND IF THERE WERE HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS, WE DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THEM. 2) WE WERE STILL 300 FT FROM APCHING 'D' TAXIWAY. I MUST SAY THE TAXIWAYS WERE SNOW COVERED. AFTER POLITELY RESPONDING TO THEIR INSTRUCTIONS, GND TOLD US TO TAXI TO RWY 1, REALIZING THEIR ERROR. NO APOLOGIES. I BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTN AS ATC IS APPEARING LESS AND LESS TO BE THE PLT'S HELPFUL FRIEND, INSTEAD, THEIR ARROGANCE IS GROWING INTO A LARGER NUMBER. CONTINUING, AFTER BEING ABUSED SO UNPROFESSIONALLY, WE GO AHEAD WITH OUR DEP ON RWY 1 AND WE INADVERTENTLY FORGET TO TURN ON OUR TRANSPONDER. DEP AGAIN RESPONDS WITH A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL REMARK TO CHK OUR TRANSPONDER ON. I EXPECT TO BE TREATED AS PROFESSIONALLY AND COURTEOUSLY AS I DO SO MYSELF TO THEM.
