Narrative:
On a VFR training mission in the military small transport I attempted to contact lewisburg tower on the published frequency of 118.9 VHF. After 3 attempts to contact the tower for landing clearance, I assumed the tower was closed and called unicom on 122.95 VHF for a VFR TA. Receiving no reply, I assumed that the unicom frequency was unmanned and proceeded to accomplish a VFR pattern entry and touch and go landing. After departing the lewisburg pattern, I discovered to my chagrin that my microphone transmit plug was not fully pushed in. As a result I performed a landing without clearance at a controled airport! After landing for fuel at charleston, wv, I called lewisburg tower by telephone and explained the nature of my mistake. I suspect that the plug of the microphone became partially disconnected during a seat change a short time before.

Title: UNAUTHORIZED LNDG TKOF WHEN UNABLE TO ESTABLISH RADIO CONTACT WITH TWR OR UNICOM. NON FEDERAL CTL TWR. NON APCH CTL TWR.
Narrative: ON A VFR TRAINING MISSION IN THE MIL SMT I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT LEWISBURG TWR ON THE PUBLISHED FREQ OF 118.9 VHF. AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THE TWR FOR LNDG CLRNC, I ASSUMED THE TWR WAS CLOSED AND CALLED UNICOM ON 122.95 VHF FOR A VFR TA. RECEIVING NO REPLY, I ASSUMED THAT THE UNICOM FREQ WAS UNMANNED AND PROCEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH A VFR PATTERN ENTRY AND TOUCH AND GO LNDG. AFTER DEPARTING THE LEWISBURG PATTERN, I DISCOVERED TO MY CHAGRIN THAT MY MICROPHONE XMIT PLUG WAS NOT FULLY PUSHED IN. AS A RESULT I PERFORMED A LNDG WITHOUT CLRNC AT A CTLED ARPT! AFTER LNDG FOR FUEL AT CHARLESTON, WV, I CALLED LEWISBURG TWR BY TELEPHONE AND EXPLAINED THE NATURE OF MY MISTAKE. I SUSPECT THAT THE PLUG OF THE MICROPHONE BECAME PARTIALLY DISCONNECTED DURING A SEAT CHANGE A SHORT TIME BEFORE.
