Narrative:
Here is one for you. Our airline just bought adv lgts from defunct air carrier. Unknown to us, other air carrier had some policy which had the captain's and first officer's altimeters reading zero on landing. To accommodate the FMC's in the aircraft they wired both air data computer's to the standby altimeter (strange, but true). On departure from dtw we were given a rerte. As I copied, the captain entered it into the FMC. We forgot to reset the standby altimeter out of FL180 and the aircraft leveled 400 ft low. Center noticed this and asked us. Quite a system surprise. I have heard other airlines having this bizarre system ('0' setting on landing).
