Narrative:
Approximately 40 DME east of dca, wbound, inbound to dca, 11000 ft. Traffic issued 1 O'clock, altitude 10.5-10.6. As traffic sighted, simultaneously TCASII gave RA to climb; we agreed visually and climbed under 200 ft as traffic passed under. Controller inquired were we climbing per TCASII even though traffic in sight. I replied we agreed with RA. I would not call it a near miss, but believe the climb was prudent considering proximity when traffic sighted and RA sounded.

Title: ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION ON TCASII RA.
Narrative: APPROX 40 DME E OF DCA, WBOUND, INBOUND TO DCA, 11000 FT. TFC ISSUED 1 O'CLOCK, ALT 10.5-10.6. AS TFC SIGHTED, SIMULTANEOUSLY TCASII GAVE RA TO CLB; WE AGREED VISUALLY AND CLBED UNDER 200 FT AS TFC PASSED UNDER. CTLR INQUIRED WERE WE CLBING PER TCASII EVEN THOUGH TFC IN SIGHT. I REPLIED WE AGREED WITH RA. I WOULD NOT CALL IT A NEAR MISS, BUT BELIEVE THE CLB WAS PRUDENT CONSIDERING PROX WHEN TFC SIGHTED AND RA SOUNDED.
