Narrative:
The aircraft commander filed a flight plan on duat for a desired route of 'rap ddy ckw jnc.' but instead of entering 'ddy', he entered 'cap', for what he believed to be the identify for casper. The filed flight plan was accepted as 'rap cap ckw jnc', and we were 'cleared as filed.' on the climb out, on a course for ddy we realized that 'cap' was not the correct NAVAID we wanted. In fact the LORAN told us that 'cap' was the other direction (090 degrees instead of 238 degrees). We got a new, correct clearance from ZDV at this time. This was a mistake caused by laziness and complacency. Our flight plan should have been checked with up-to-date charts before filing. Duat accepts whatever direct route you give it. It does not inform you that your route does not make sense.

Title: GOV FLC FILES DUAT FLT PLAN WITH WRONG IDENT STATION. STARTS FLT, CORRECTS WITH CTR.
Narrative: THE ACFT COMMANDER FILED A FLT PLAN ON DUAT FOR A DESIRED RTE OF 'RAP DDY CKW JNC.' BUT INSTEAD OF ENTERING 'DDY', HE ENTERED 'CAP', FOR WHAT HE BELIEVED TO BE THE IDENT FOR CASPER. THE FILED FLT PLAN WAS ACCEPTED AS 'RAP CAP CKW JNC', AND WE WERE 'CLRED AS FILED.' ON THE CLB OUT, ON A COURSE FOR DDY WE REALIZED THAT 'CAP' WAS NOT THE CORRECT NAVAID WE WANTED. IN FACT THE LORAN TOLD US THAT 'CAP' WAS THE OTHER DIRECTION (090 DEGS INSTEAD OF 238 DEGS). WE GOT A NEW, CORRECT CLRNC FROM ZDV AT THIS TIME. THIS WAS A MISTAKE CAUSED BY LAZINESS AND COMPLACENCY. OUR FLT PLAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHKED WITH UP-TO-DATE CHARTS BEFORE FILING. DUAT ACCEPTS WHATEVER DIRECT RTE YOU GIVE IT. IT DOES NOT INFORM YOU THAT YOUR RTE DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.
