Narrative:

Widebody transport from lga to atl. FAA inspector presented himself in cockpit about 15 min before departure to ride jumpseat to atl. Had proper identification and forms authorizing this and showing that operations had been notified. Computer-run weight and balance given to us just prior to push back. So failed to notice that weight and balance did not reflect jumpseat rider. At conclusion of flight, this omission was pointed out to me by inspector. Situation at push back was hectic due to special takeoff data being figured, crowded taxi conditions at lga, etc. However, both so and I should have been more alert to this. On the other hand, on a big airplane in airline operations the PIC must take some things on face value. He cannot go through the cabin and count noses or go out on the ramp and personally weigh each piece of cargo. Ramp operations personnel should be more aware of their responsibility to be careful and accurate.

Title: FAA ACI RIDES JUMPSEAT DURING FLT INSPECTION ACTIVITY AND NOTES HE WAS NOT ON WT MANIFEST AFTER ARRIVING DEST ARPT.

Narrative: WDB FROM LGA TO ATL. FAA INSPECTOR PRESENTED HIMSELF IN COCKPIT ABOUT 15 MIN BEFORE DEP TO RIDE JUMPSEAT TO ATL. HAD PROPER ID AND FORMS AUTHORIZING THIS AND SHOWING THAT OPS HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. COMPUTER-RUN WT AND BAL GIVEN TO US JUST PRIOR TO PUSH BACK. SO FAILED TO NOTICE THAT WT AND BAL DID NOT REFLECT JUMPSEAT RIDER. AT CONCLUSION OF FLT, THIS OMISSION WAS POINTED OUT TO ME BY INSPECTOR. SITUATION AT PUSH BACK WAS HECTIC DUE TO SPECIAL TKOF DATA BEING FIGURED, CROWDED TAXI CONDITIONS AT LGA, ETC. HOWEVER, BOTH SO AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ALERT TO THIS. ON THE OTHER HAND, ON A BIG AIRPLANE IN AIRLINE OPS THE PIC MUST TAKE SOME THINGS ON FACE VALUE. HE CANNOT GO THROUGH THE CABIN AND COUNT NOSES OR GO OUT ON THE RAMP AND PERSONALLY WEIGH EACH PIECE OF CARGO. RAMP OPS PERSONNEL SHOULD BE MORE AWARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE CAREFUL AND ACCURATE.
