Narrative:
Climbing between 26000-27000 engine #1 compressor stalled with increasing egt. Engine #1 was shutdown, returned to dtw our departure station, dumped approximately 10000 pounds of fuel at 20000 ft. Return to dtw uneventful. Engine had same problem on a previous flight that day. Engine was bore scoped and fuel controller changed, which obviously did not correct problem.
