Narrative:
I was flying and mia departure changed our altitude from the normal 5000 ft to 3000 ft (I think to accommodate military traffic from homestead AFB). We were on radar vectors and I continued my climb to 3500 ft and then realized my error and immediately returned to 3000 ft. I turned off the transponder and continued at 3000 ft. ATC said nothing. Later we were given a climb to 10000 ft and ATC advised us that 'our transponder was acting up a little bit tonight, please check it.'
