Narrative:

On the morning of mar/mon/92, at approximately AM30 hours, light transport X departed newark airport on an IFR flight plan to lhy. He was given direct sbj and then eventually direct lrp. Approximately AM55, light transport X left my airspace and penetrated the phl airspace without a handoff or pointout. He continued on to lrp which is in har airspace without a pointout or handoff. No loss of separation occurred during his trip to lrp where at that point the har controller idented the aircraft, who continued on his IFR flight plan. I thought the aircraft was VFR and handled him as such. Communication breakdown between the tower and myself. I worked a 7 am to 3 pm shift on mar/mon/92, returned to a mid to 8 am shift on mar/tue/92. This was 1 of 2 nights that 2 man mids don't exist.
