Narrative:
On the morning of mar/mon/92, at approximately AM30 hours, light transport X departed newark airport on an IFR flight plan to lhy. He was given direct sbj and then eventually direct lrp. Approximately AM55, light transport X left my airspace and penetrated the phl airspace without a handoff or pointout. He continued on to lrp which is in har airspace without a pointout or handoff. No loss of separation occurred during his trip to lrp where at that point the har controller idented the aircraft, who continued on his IFR flight plan. I thought the aircraft was VFR and handled him as such. Communication breakdown between the tower and myself. I worked a 7 am to 3 pm shift on mar/mon/92, returned to a mid to 8 am shift on mar/tue/92. This was 1 of 2 nights that 2 man mids don't exist.

Title: CTLR THOUGHT ACFT WAS VFR AND NEGLECTED TO GIVE HDOF TO ADJACENT FACILITY RESULTING IN OPS DEV.
Narrative: ON THE MORNING OF MAR/MON/92, AT APPROX AM30 HRS, LTT X DEPARTED NEWARK ARPT ON AN IFR FLT PLAN TO LHY. HE WAS GIVEN DIRECT SBJ AND THEN EVENTUALLY DIRECT LRP. APPROX AM55, LTT X LEFT MY AIRSPACE AND PENETRATED THE PHL AIRSPACE WITHOUT A HDOF OR POINTOUT. HE CONTINUED ON TO LRP WHICH IS IN HAR AIRSPACE WITHOUT A POINTOUT OR HDOF. NO LOSS OF SEPARATION OCCURRED DURING HIS TRIP TO LRP WHERE AT THAT POINT THE HAR CTLR IDENTED THE ACFT, WHO CONTINUED ON HIS IFR FLT PLAN. I THOUGHT THE ACFT WAS VFR AND HANDLED HIM AS SUCH. COM BREAKDOWN BTWN THE TWR AND MYSELF. I WORKED A 7 AM TO 3 PM SHIFT ON MAR/MON/92, RETURNED TO A MID TO 8 AM SHIFT ON MAR/TUE/92. THIS WAS 1 OF 2 NIGHTS THAT 2 MAN MIDS DON'T EXIST.
