Narrative:
GPWS activated during descent through 6300 ft MSL to 6000 ft assigned. Climb was initiated and ATC advised of situation. Leveled at 6900 ft MSL and coordinated return to 6000 ft with ATC. GPWS ceased warning at 6800 ft MSL. Called ATC after arrival via phone and discussed situation. Was told that this occurrence was common and they were gathering information to help identify the cause.

Title: GPWS ACTIVATION CREATES AN ALTDEV REVERSAL IN DSCNT DUE TO EVASIVE ACTION CLB.
Narrative: GPWS ACTIVATED DURING DSCNT THROUGH 6300 FT MSL TO 6000 FT ASSIGNED. CLB WAS INITIATED AND ATC ADVISED OF SITUATION. LEVELED AT 6900 FT MSL AND COORDINATED RETURN TO 6000 FT WITH ATC. GPWS CEASED WARNING AT 6800 FT MSL. CALLED ATC AFTER ARR VIA PHONE AND DISCUSSED SITUATION. WAS TOLD THAT THIS OCCURRENCE WAS COMMON AND THEY WERE GATHERING INFO TO HELP IDENT THE CAUSE.
