Narrative:
Los angeles tower cleared an air carrier large transport across 24L over to 24R. Although I did not hear it, first officer said air carrier Y was cleared for takeoff on 24R. We were cleared into position on 24L after air carrier Y crossed the runway. Later being cleared for takeoff. Halfway through takeoff roll, I noticed air carrier Y rolling on the adjacent runway. We both broke ground at the same time, air carrier Y just slightly ahead of us and to our right. Both of us were on a 250 degree heading, climbing to 2000 ft. I discussed this with one our management pilots who said this has happened before and that the tower can legally do this. Seems risky to me. I would not have elected to takeoff if I had seen air carrier Y, but the aircraft was out of my view until we were too far into takeoff to risk rejecting. About 3 mi west of runway, departure gave us a diverging 235 degree heading.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT LTSS BTWN 2 SIMULTANEOUS DEP ACFT ON MULTIPLE RWY OP PARALLEL RWYS.
Narrative: LOS ANGELES TWR CLRED AN ACR LGT ACROSS 24L OVER TO 24R. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HEAR IT, FO SAID ACR Y WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON 24R. WE WERE CLRED INTO POS ON 24L AFTER ACR Y CROSSED THE RWY. LATER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF. HALFWAY THROUGH TKOF ROLL, I NOTICED ACR Y ROLLING ON THE ADJACENT RWY. WE BOTH BROKE GND AT THE SAME TIME, ACR Y JUST SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF US AND TO OUR R. BOTH OF US WERE ON A 250 DEG HDG, CLBING TO 2000 FT. I DISCUSSED THIS WITH ONE OUR MGMNT PLTS WHO SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND THAT THE TWR CAN LEGALLY DO THIS. SEEMS RISKY TO ME. I WOULD NOT HAVE ELECTED TO TKOF IF I HAD SEEN ACR Y, BUT THE ACFT WAS OUT OF MY VIEW UNTIL WE WERE TOO FAR INTO TKOF TO RISK REJECTING. ABOUT 3 MI W OF RWY, DEP GAVE US A DIVERGING 235 DEG HDG.
