Narrative:
During an ILS practice approach noticed the ammeter near 0 and considered possibility of a faulty gauge. When initiating missed approach and during reception of missed approach instruction, experienced total electrical failure. Knowing that other aircraft were cleared to land on both runways 30 and 26, we elected to climb to 8500 ft and departed the air traffic area to the south to fly in an uncongested area to troubleshoot the electrical system. We were able to reset the over voltage relay and restore power to electrical system. We contacted cys approach and reported position and cancelled IFR.

Title: GA PLT LOST ALL ACFT ELECTRICAL PWR RADIO COMS AT THE MISSED APCH POINT DURING A PRACTICE ILS INST APCH IN A SMALL SEL ACFT.
Narrative: DURING AN ILS PRACTICE APCH NOTICED THE AMMETER NEAR 0 AND CONSIDERED POSSIBILITY OF A FAULTY GAUGE. WHEN INITIATING MISSED APCH AND DURING RECEPTION OF MISSED APCH INSTRUCTION, EXPERIENCED TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. KNOWING THAT OTHER ACFT WERE CLRED TO LAND ON BOTH RWYS 30 AND 26, WE ELECTED TO CLB TO 8500 FT AND DEPARTED THE ATA TO THE S TO FLY IN AN UNCONGESTED AREA TO TROUBLESHOOT THE ELECTRICAL SYS. WE WERE ABLE TO RESET THE OVER VOLTAGE RELAY AND RESTORE PWR TO ELECTRICAL SYS. WE CONTACTED CYS APCH AND RPTED POS AND CANCELLED IFR.
