Narrative:
Following takeoff from mdw we were cleared for midway 4 departure. This departure from runway 4R calls for runway heading until reaching 1300 ft, then turn to assigned heading. Turn must be completed within 4 mi of airport. After takeoff we completed the departure as published (within the 4 mi). We also experienced a momentary communication failure and were unable to talk to the tower. After switching to departure, the controller informed us we had a stuck microphone and we had turned outside of the sears tower. Being unfamiliar with the local terrain and being IMC, I have no way of knowing this. The instruments in the aircraft indicated we were within the limitations of the departure. I would only suggest that if departures such as these take you so close to objects that a small communication failure panics the controller then maybe greater tolerances should be mandated.

Title: HDG TRACK DEV PLACES ACR MLG IN PROX OF OBSTRUCTION BUILDINGS.
Narrative: FOLLOWING TKOF FROM MDW WE WERE CLRED FOR MIDWAY 4 DEP. THIS DEP FROM RWY 4R CALLS FOR RWY HDG UNTIL REACHING 1300 FT, THEN TURN TO ASSIGNED HDG. TURN MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 4 MI OF ARPT. AFTER TKOF WE COMPLETED THE DEP AS PUBLISHED (WITHIN THE 4 MI). WE ALSO EXPERIENCED A MOMENTARY COM FAILURE AND WERE UNABLE TO TALK TO THE TWR. AFTER SWITCHING TO DEP, THE CTLR INFORMED US WE HAD A STUCK MIKE AND WE HAD TURNED OUTSIDE OF THE SEARS TWR. BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE LCL TERRAIN AND BEING IMC, I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THIS. THE INSTS IN THE ACFT INDICATED WE WERE WITHIN THE LIMITATIONS OF THE DEP. I WOULD ONLY SUGGEST THAT IF DEPS SUCH AS THESE TAKE YOU SO CLOSE TO OBJECTS THAT A SMALL COM FAILURE PANICS THE CTLR THEN MAYBE GREATER TOLERANCES SHOULD BE MANDATED.
