Narrative:
We had just rolled out of turn over pwl VOR (V-44 sbound) in a descent out of 6800 to cross loves intersection at 6000. During turn, ATC had called unconfirmed VFR traffic at 2:30 below us. Traffic appeared on TCASII as 800 ft below, climbing. I reduced descent while first officer visually searched. TCASII issued TA (intruder). ATC began to issue an avoidance turn but it was drowned out by the TCASII RA (threat) announcing 'climb, climb.' I climbed straight ahead at the indicated rate from 6600 to 7200 at which point the TCASII announced 'clear of conflict.' the first officer sighted the threat aircraft just as the TA was announced. He notified ATC of our climb resolution.

I CLBED STRAIGHT AHEAD AT THE INDICATED RATE FROM 6600 TO 7200 AT WHICH POINT THE TCASII ANNOUNCED 'CLR OF CONFLICT.' THE FO SIGHTED THE THREAT ACFT JUST AS THE TA WAS ANNOUNCED. HE NOTIFIED ATC OF OUR CLB RESOLUTION.
