Narrative:

From 50 mi north of chs to 120 mi south of hopewell our WX radar was being interfered with. Radar had a single spoke of green and magenta color approximately 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch wide at top of screen, tapering to 0 at bottom of screen at the 2 O'clock position. I asked dca center on 118 pt 92 if any other aircraft had complained. He said no. Then air carrier a, flts X and Y, and air carrier B, flight Z -- also complained of similar problems, the same thing had happened to me the day before in the same area. The spoke was continuous at 2 O'clock until the 9 O'clock position where it disappeared at 120 mi south of hopewell. This spoking rendered the radar highly suspect and unreliable for WX avoidance in an area of reported thunderstorm.

Title: VARIOUS ACR FLC'S EXPERIENCE WX RADAR INTERFERENCE.

Narrative: FROM 50 MI N OF CHS TO 120 MI S OF HOPEWELL OUR WX RADAR WAS BEING INTERFERED WITH. RADAR HAD A SINGLE SPOKE OF GREEN AND MAGENTA COLOR APPROX 1/2 INCH TO 3/4 INCH WIDE AT TOP OF SCREEN, TAPERING TO 0 AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN AT THE 2 O'CLOCK POS. I ASKED DCA CTR ON 118 PT 92 IF ANY OTHER ACFT HAD COMPLAINED. HE SAID NO. THEN ACR A, FLTS X AND Y, AND ACR B, FLT Z -- ALSO COMPLAINED OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS, THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED TO ME THE DAY BEFORE IN THE SAME AREA. THE SPOKE WAS CONTINUOUS AT 2 O'CLOCK UNTIL THE 9 O'CLOCK POS WHERE IT DISAPPEARED AT 120 MI S OF HOPEWELL. THIS SPOKING RENDERED THE RADAR HIGHLY SUSPECT AND UNRELIABLE FOR WX AVOIDANCE IN AN AREA OF RPTED TSTM.
